Wilderness Trail Kentucky Straight Bourbon

A bourbon fermentation tank at Wilderness Trace Distillery in Danville, Kentucky, Boyle County.

Founded in 2013 by Pat Heist and Shane Baker, Wilderness Trail Distillery was a natural extension of the duo’s existing business of providing yeast and fermentation experience to distillers across the globe. The combination of a true love of Kentucky Bourbon combined with years of experience in alcohol production has Wilderness Trail focused on producing modest amounts of high quality, flavorful whiskey from the best local ingredients.

Wilderness Trail’s Old Wilderness Kentucky Straight Bourbon is a four year old bourbon that is distilled to 135 proof and enters #4 charred barrels at around 110 proof after being cut with limestone filtered spring water.

The Bourbon is bottled at a minimum age of four years; future variants will include those that are 7-15 years old. The distillery also plans to offer Bottled-in-Bond bourbon in the future.

The corn, wheat, and rye are all Kentucky grown, most of it within a couple miles of the distillery.

Old Wilderness Kentucky Straight Bourbon is set to be released later in 2017 after aging for four years.
